One of the more special spots located just 14 miles south from our home is Solomons Island.  It is a charming village full of shops, great restaurants  and Calvert Marine Museum.  The museum is a public, non-profit, educational, regionally oriented museum dedicated to the collection, preservation, research, and interpretation of the culture and natural history of Southern Maryland.  Explore the history, culture, and lighthouses of the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent River all in one place
